Groups
Groups are collections of staff members who receive notifications together. Routing rules target groups, not individual users — this makes rules easier to manage and less brittle when staff changes.
Example groups
- Booking Staff — receives
booking.*events - Finance — receives
payment.failedevents - Managers — receives all
URGENTevents - Phuket Team — receives events tagged with branch
phuket - On-Call — rotated weekly, receives maintenance alerts
Managing groups
Create and manage groups in Dashboard → Setup → Groups.
When you add a user to a group, they immediately start receiving notifications routed to that group — as long as they have the FlowAlert app installed and are signed in.
A user must have the FlowAlert mobile app installed and be signed in to receive push notifications. If a notification is routed to a user with no registered device, it will show as Failed — App not installed or never signed in in the notifications log.
Subscribers vs members
FlowAlert supports two user types in a group:
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Member | Full workspace user — can log in to the dashboard |
| Subscriber | App-only user — receives notifications but has no dashboard access |
Subscribers are useful for staff who only need to receive alerts on their phone, without access to the management dashboard.
