Subscribers
Subscribers are the people who receive FlowAlert notifications on their phones. Each subscriber installs the FlowAlert mobile app, joins your workspace, and then receives push notifications for any routing rule that targets a group they belong to.
A subscriber is just a person with the app — they don't need a dashboard login or a paid seat to receive alerts.
How subscribers join
Subscribers join through invite links (and their QR codes). You create an invite link in the dashboard, then share the link or QR with the phone you want to add:
- In Dashboard → Setup → Subscribers, click New invite link (optionally give it a label and a max-use limit).
- Share the link, show the QR code, or print a join poster.
- The person opens the FlowAlert app, scans the QR (or enters the code), and confirms — they're now a subscriber.
Scanning the QR with the FlowAlert app joins instantly. Scanning it with the phone's camera opens a web page that previews the workspace and helps them get the app first.
Invite links
- Label — a name to help you remember what a link is for (e.g. "Store staff").
- Max uses — optionally cap how many people can join with a link; leave empty for unlimited.
- Enabled / disabled — toggle a link off to stop new joins without deleting it.
- History — see who joined through each link and when.
On-call schedules
Each subscriber can have one or more on-call schedules that define when they're considered on-call:
- Recurring — specific days of the week and a time window (in a chosen timezone), e.g. weekdays 9:00 AM–6:00 PM.
- One-off — a single start/end window, e.g. covering a holiday shift.
A routing rule set to on-call only notifies just the members of its target group who are on-call at the moment the event fires. Schedules are optional — rules notify the whole group unless they're marked on-call only.
Manage schedules from Dashboard → Setup → Subscribers by clicking Schedule on a subscriber.
Subscribers, groups, and routing
- Subscribers are individual people.
- Groups bundle subscribers into teams or roles.
- Routing rules decide which groups get which events.
So the flow is: an event arrives → a routing rule matches it → the rule's target groups resolve to subscribers → those subscribers (optionally filtered by on-call) get a push notification.
Removing a subscriber
Removing a subscriber from Dashboard → Setup → Subscribers takes them out of the workspace and stops their alerts. They're notified that they were removed. Re-inviting them later is just another invite link.
